The Future of Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is constantly changing as new techniques are developed and as trends change. While we love working with patients in the present, we also look forward to the changes that come in the future. Keep reading for some of our predictions about the future of plastic surgery.

More Minimally Invasive Offerings

Minimally invasive procedures are currently one of the hottest trends in plastic surgery and we expect that this trend will only continue to grow. Last year, 6.7 million Botox injections were performed (a record-setting number). Other minimally invasive procedures, including dermal fillers, chemical peels and laser hair removal, also saw growth.

Our patients love minimally invasive options because they are quick and easy. Many require no downtime after treatment. Minimally invasive treatments are a great way to boost your appearance without an extensive surgery or healing period. We expect that more minimally invasive options will soon be available possibly procedures that once required surgeries.

Less Stigma Surrounding Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is becoming more accepted, both in Hollywood and amongst the rest of us. We think this trend will continue and bring more people to plastic surgery. The fading stigma of plastic surgery will mean that more people can embrace the body of their dreams through breast augmentation, liposuction, and other procedures.

More Male Procedures

From 2000 to 2014, cosmetic procedures amongst male patients increased 23%. The past few years have brought an increase in men wanting cosmetic procedures, especially minimally invasive procedures. Some of the most common treatments for men in our offices are Botox, male breast reduction and liposuction.

Earlier Action

Years ago, men and women would wait until their 50s or 60s to consider cosmetic surgery (like a facelift). Now they are seeking treatment earlier, often with better results. A properly timed mini-facelift may delay or eliminate the need for a full facelift later in life.

We expect as more people come to see the advantages of early action that this trend will continue. There is much we can do at every stage in life, but acting sooner often means better results from less invasive procedures. It is easier to prevent than to repair.

What does the future of plastic surgery look like? We can only guess, but one thing we do know is that your future looks more beautiful with a little cosmetic enhancement. Call us at 804-267-6009 for your appointment.
