I Want a Bigger Bottom. Can a Brazilian Butt Lift Help?

A Brazilian Butt Lift is a two-part procedure that improves the size, shape, and definition of the buttocks. We first perform liposuction, removing fat from an area that has a bit of excess (often the abdomen, flanks, love handles, thighs, or back). This fat is collected in a sterile container, washed with an antibiotic solution, and placed in syringes for injection. This liposuction has two purposes: to gather the fat needed for injection and to improve the contours in the area.

After the fat is harvested and prepared, it is injected into the buttocks through a series of artfully placed injections. Fat is injected into both the deep fat and the buttocks musculature.

This procedure is very time-consuming (typically 3-4 hours), but results can be impressive.

What’s Recovery Like After a Brazilian Butt Lift?

After your procedure is complete, you’ll be wrapped in a surgical garment and sent home to recover. Expect some mild discomfort, soreness, and swelling. We’ll provide you with pain medication to help during the first few days after surgery. You’ll need to avoid lying or sitting on your bottom during the first two weeks. This will give your body time to establish a new blood supply to the transferred fat. Dr. Lewis asks that patients walk each day and that they wear compression garments for 3-6 weeks.

Most patients take about 1-2 weeks off from work in order to recover. Results are immediately visible and continue to improve with time as swelling decreases. Not all of the transferred fat will establish and survive. Dr. Lewis believes that about 50-75% of the fat survives, but individual results can vary.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Most women in good health are good candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift. Women who are very thin may not have enough fat to harvest for the procedure. In these cases, Dr. Lewis may recommend gaining a bit of weight before surgery to ensure sufficient fat for transfer.
