Juvederm is a dermal filler that can help you restore facial volume by filling in moderate to severe facial wrinkles and lines. A non-surgical injectable made of hyaluronic acid – a substance that is already present in the body – Juvederm treatment does not require an allergy test.
JUVEDERM is a clear gel that is very smooth and natural-looking. Besides replacing lost volume in the face for a more youthful look, it can be used on the lips to make them fuller. JUVEDERM is safe for use on all skin tones.
For JUVEDERM injections to look natural and not overdone, you need a skilled injector who understands the anatomy and how JUVEDERM works in the skin. Dr. Lewis takes the time he needs to evaluate your face and determine the best areas for JUVEDERM and the amount of the product required to produce the results you want.
JUVEDERM injections usually last for 6-8 months, but they have been known to last as long as a year for some patients.
Areas improved by JUVEDERM injections:
- Nasolabial folds – the wrinkles that start at the nose and continue down to the mouth
- Marionette lines – the wrinkles that start at the mouth and continue down the chin
- Thin lips that you wish to make fuller and poutier
Dr. Lewis customizes every JUVEDERM treatment. There is no “one size fits all” approach at Lewis Plastic Surgery. Dermal fillers are both an art and a science, so Dr. Lewis evaluates your face much like a sculptor so that you look naturally younger. No one should know you have had facial fillers. They should just notice that you look great.
Will anesthesia and pain relief be used during / after JUVEDERM treatments?
JUVEDERM injections include Lidocaine to numb the skin. A topical numbing cream can also be applied to increase your comfort.
What happens immediately after JUVEDERM treatments?
Dr. Lewis might massage the injection sites slightly, but you can go home immediately after your treatment.
How long will complete recovery from JUVEDERM injections take?
JUVEDERM requires no recovery period. You might experience some minor bruising, swelling, and tenderness at the injection sites, but this will resolve in a matter of days.
Am I a good candidate for JUVEDERM ?
If you have nasolabial folds or marionette lines, or if you would like fuller lips, you might be a good candidate for JUVEDERM injections. Dr. Lewis will take a full medical history to determine if JUVEDERM is safe for you. If you are taking blood thinners, if you are under age 18, or if you are pregnant, you should avoid JUVEDERM injections.
What are the risks of JUVEDERM ?
With any procedure, there are risks that you must be aware of. To minimize the risks, ensure that your procedure is conducted in a safe and secure environment using the latest techniques by checking the certifications and accreditation of your surgeon. Accreditation boards and bodies are there to protect you.

JUVEDERM greatly improves lines and wrinkles. In some cases, JUVEDERM Voluma may be preferable, or Botox may be necessary for wrinkles caused by muscle contractions.
Dr. Lewis might also recommend these non-surgical procedures:
- Facial fat grafting (using your own fat to restore lost volume around the eyes and to the cheeks)
- Medical Spa treatments to rejuvenate the skin and smooth fine lines not targeted by Botox
JUVEDERM injections are also often recommended after these facial surgery procedures to smooth remaining wrinkles:
